The Sonos Playbase may be an impressive performer, but there’s no doubt that the lack of connectivity options could have installers and users alike eager for additional inputs. Enter Sonos accessory specialist Flexson, which is offering plug in upgrades for expanded connectivity.
“Like the Sonos Playbar, the Playbase only has a single, optical input, but not all TVs have this digital sound connection,” says Behcet Sevdali, Flexson product manager. “We also know many users want to run extra sources, such as Blu-ray/DVD players, set-top boxes, games consoles and more, into their Sonos speaker.”
The Flexson range comprises audio converters and HDMI switches.
Installers can choose from an Analogue to Digital converter (£30), for those displays or sources which have analogue outputs only, or a Digital Coax to Optical converter box (£35), to adapt digital sources. There’s also an HDMI converter, which sells for £60, which features an optical digital audio breakout for the Sonos and 4K pass-through for HDMI.
Top of the range is a three-input HDMI switch with audio converter, priced at £75. Users route a trio of devices to their display, while audio is directed to the Playbase’s optical audio input.
