Southport based audio specialist iFi has introduced the Pro iDSD, an ambitious reference grade DAC headphone-amp preamp with a wide feature set. The Pro iDSD is DLNA compliant for network streaming, can play tracks directly from an SD card, and supports Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer and Napster.
It can also be integrated into a multiroom audio system, using Linkplay, and offers a trio of output sockets to suit multiple headphone types: 6.3mm (single-ended), 3.5mm (single-ended/S-balanced) and 2.5mm TRRS (fully balanced). There are also single-ended phono and balanced XLR line-level analogue outputs.
The Pro iDSD can play all audio formats up to DSD or PCM 768K with user-selectable digital filters. There’s also MQA support.
Beneath the hood, the Pro iDSD uses a Quad ‘stack’ of Burr-Brown Bit-Perfect DSD and DXD DACs in a custom ‘interleaved’ configuration, enabling a total of eight pairs of differential signals to be used and mixed. All signals to the DACs are re-clocked with the low-jitter Global Master Timing master clock derived from an AMR DP-777 DAC.
The Pro iDSD retails for £2,499. Distribution is via Select Audio. For trade enquiries tel. 01704 227204
