European OEM TV giant Vestel has announced that Dolby Vision will feature across the entire range of Vestel Ultra HD TVs, including its latest range of OLED TVs. The development will mean that upcoming Toshiba branded sets, manufactured by Vestel, will feature Dolby Vision support. The Turkish TV maker will also be able to offer Dolby Vision to other brand clients.

Dolby Vision is now the dominant HDR mastering workflow for Hollywood studios, with major titles increasingly produced in the format for cinematic presentation and home release. More than 125 hours of original content is available in Dolby Vision, from TV shows and movies to original series. Dolby Vision content includes Netflix’s Marco Polo, Knights of Sidonia and Marvel’s Daredevil.

“We recognise that Dolby is leading the way when it comes to creating state-of-the-art image and viewing experiences,” said Hakan Kutlu, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “As one of the biggest TV manufacturers in Europe, we are focused on delivering breath-taking visual experiences and taking consumer entertainment to the next level.”

The announcement follows a groundswell of interest in rival dynamic HDR technology HDR10+. That system, led by Samsung, Panasonic and 20th Century Fox, recently signed up TP Vision, maker of Philips screens. HDR10+ will make its debut on 2018 ranges, with some 2017 screens receiving support via a firmware update. As yet, there is no content available in HDR10+.
