Dolby has confirmed more movies to be released for Dolby Cinema. After Fox's Deadpool (pictured above), The Revenant and The Martian, Disney’s Zootopia and Lionsgate’s The Divergent Series: Allegiant open in March, followed by the live action The Jungle Book in April, with Now You See Me 2, set for a June release.

These new titles bring High Dynamic Range (HDR) Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos mastered films announced or released for Dolby Cinema to 22. The first title in the theatrical format was Tomorrowland in 2015. Dolby Cinema combines a Dolby Vision laser projection system, with Dolby Atmos sound technology.

Dolby continues to roll-out the technology theatrically, announcing plans to open 100 Dolby Cinema locations over the next five years with China’s WandaCinema chain.  In just over a year, more than 200 Dolby Cinema sites have been installed or committed to worldwide. Conspicuously, the UK still lacks a commercial Dolby Cinema site.

“We pride ourselves on embracing the latest technology that helps bring our stories to life for all of our tent-pole releases, and the use of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos forThe Revenant and The Martian are testaments to the value Dolby can deliver to Hollywood movies,” said Fox’s President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson. “These technologies will forever change the way moviegoers watch our films.”

LG announced at CES that it was partnering with Dolby to bring Dolby Vision TVs to the home market late 2016.
