Dolby Atmos Music has arrived on streaming service Tidal. The format is now available on the Tidal HiFi tier, with library contributions from Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group.

Contributing artists include The Weeknd, Blondie and Ariana Grande. Tidal owner Jy-Z is also said to be remixing his catalogue in the immersive standard.

“Tidal members have come to expect the highest quality listening experience from our platform, and it is a priority for us to stay at the forefront of innovation,” says Lior Tibon, Chief Operating Officer, Tidal. “Dolby Atmos will give music fans the ability to enjoy the best possible audio quality.”

The development follows an introductory partnership with Amazon Music HD. Tidal will automatically default to Dolby Atmos Music when a Dolby Atmos mix is available. Tracks will be identified by the logo badge, as well as through an Atmos identifier that will display when a song is selected.

Users can also click on the Dolby Atmos menu option under the Explore tab on the Tidal app to find library of tracks available in Atmos.

To help promote the sound system, Dolby has commissioned a series of short films that feature notable artists, such as Post Malone, Lizzo and J Balvin, discussing their reaction to experiencing Dolby Atmos Music for this first time, and why they believe it to be ‘a game-changing way to create and experience music’.
