Audio optimization outfit Dirac Research has partnered with Oppo, furthering its position as a provider of component audio technology for the smartphone market. The first Dirac enabled Oppo smartphones will be the R11 and R11 Plus, which recently launched into the Chinese market.

“Oppo is widely viewed as one of the most innovative, forward-thinking, and fast-moving mobile device manufacturers in the world – and for good reason,” says Dirac General Manager for Mobile, Erik Rudolphi. “They have a keen understanding of market trends and are acutely aware of the growing consumer demand for a premium mobile audio experience. We’re honored to partner with a company who so clearly shares the same exceedingly high design and engineering standards that we do.”

The phones boast Dirac Power Sound, a speaker-optimization solution that delivers ‘full-sized audio playback; clearer, more natural sound with richer detail; and a tighter, more powerful bass.’ They will also be equipped with Dirac HD sound and Dirace Sensaround, which improve the audio range and create a more immersive listening experience.

The applications are derived from Dirac frequency and impulse response correction and bass optimization technologies developed for the automotive and Hi-Fi markets.

This strategic partnership follows the launch of Dirac VR.

Dirac’s suite of audio optimization solutions are currently used in the automobile and home cinema markets by Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Volvo, Harman, NAD Electronics, Storm Audio, Datasat and Pioneer.
