Denon has launched a network receiver for two-channel enthusiasts. The DRA-800H is a hybrid of sorts, designed for high quality two-channel listening but with advanced connectivity, including 4K Ultra HD video support and HDMI ARC.

The feature list includes FM/DAB+ radio, a dedicated phono vinyl input with MM Equalizer, Wi-Fi integration and a plethora of digital inputs including HDMI. There’s also HDMI-CEC system control.

The DRA-800H can be used with any TV, streaming music service, voice control and smart device. It's also multiroom capable. HEOS Built-in brings compatibility with HEOS components as well as access to Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, TuneIn Internet Radio, Sound Cloud and Tidal.

Build quality apes brand’s multichannel AVR range, with aluminium front panel and advanced custom amplifier design and power supply.

High resolution file support includes ALAC, FLAC and WAV up to 24-bit/196 kHz. It’s also compatible with 2.8/5.6-MHz DSD files. Playback can be from memory devices via the front panel USB, or across a network. Under the hood are AKM AK4458 32-bit D/A converters.

The DRA-800H features five HDMI inputs and one output, all of which support 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, and HDR10 and HLG.

The DRA-800H works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri. Listeners can use Amazon Alexa for a variety of commands, including switching inputs for different media players. Google Assistant and Siri include volume adjustment and skip tracks.

The newly designed power-amplifier section features a Left/Right symmetrical design and Denon custom capacitors. With an Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) winding power transformer, the DRA-800H delivers 100 watts per channel (into 8ohms), with low impedance driver capability, allowing it to partner a wide range of floor-standing and bookshelf loudspeakers.

Integrators should note that there’s A/B speaker functionality with gold plated speaker terminals: This gives the option of either two pairs of stereo speakers or bi-wiring. Playback includes Tone Control (treble, bass and balance) and Source Direct modes.

Available in a black or silver finish, the DRA-800H retails for £599 and is available now.
