Denon has announced a new Blu-ray transport, the DBT-1713UD, plus two new mid-range AV receivers, the AVR-2113 (pictured above) and AVR-2313. All are ambitiously specified, with the AVRs offering both AirPlay and 4K video pass-though and upscaling.

The £550 AVR-2113 is rated at 125w across seven channels, while the £800 AVR-2313 delivers 135w. Build quality appears excellent on both, with a short signal path circuit design for optimal audio and video performance. Both AVRs offer six HDMI inputs; the step-up model sports two HDMI outputs, for simultaneous video output to both a TV and projector.

In addition to Airplay support, the duo promise broad network audio file support (including FLAC compatibility) and internet radio, via V-Tuner and Last FM. The brand has also revamped its user interface to make the receivers easier to use; new for 2012 is a Setup Assistant with support for seven languages.

Post processing modes include Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Audyssey DynamicEQ, while multi-channel calibration is made simpler with Audyssey MultEQ XT. The AVR-2313 also throws Audyssey DSX and Audyssey Pro into the mix. While the cheaper AVR-2113 only offers rudimentary two-zone audio, the AVR-2313 has enhanced multi-zone with RS-232 support.

The £450 Blu-ray transport (external DAC required) is a Universal design, compatible with Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio discs. It also offers a limited selection of IPTV, in the form of YouTube and Netflix. The brand makes much of its build quality and loading speed. Inside CI will be travelling to the European dealer launch of all the new Denon (and stablemate brand Marantz) kit next week, so expect more updates on each brand's line-up then.
