UK audio company Damson has unveiled an ultra compact Dolby Atmos-enabled home cinema package. The S-Series Home Cinema system comprises a compact soundbar, matching Dolby Atmos enabled up-firing speaker, subwoofer and two wireless S-Cube rear speakers.

The soundbar is just 240mm wide, while the S-Series uses the brand’s proprietary JetStreamNet wireless system to wirelessly connect to the rear S-Cube speakers. The sub acts as the system hub, and offers three HDMIs (one with ARC), a 3.5mm line input and Bluetooth support.

The modular system can also function as a multiroom audio solution. JetStreamNet has the capability to connect up to eight S-Cubes, allowing users to place the wireless speakers in a variety of locations. The cubes have a range of up to 50 metres, and employ Lithium-ion batteries that will run for eight hours.

Inside CI was invited to an early listen of the S-Series at Dolby Europe’s HQ, and can confirm it delivers a big, expansive soundstage despite its compact size. James Talbot, Damson CEO and Founder, suggests the system will find a natural home in apartments, where there is a requirement for both Dolby Atmos audio and versatile multiroom audio. It’s likely to appeal to both movie fans and gamers. In addition to Dolby Atmos, the system will also decode DTS core 5.1.

The Damson S-Series will retail for £800 when it goes on sale in January.
