Danish loudspeaker maker Dali will unveil its first multiroom audio system, the DALI Callisto, at IFA 2017. The fruit of a partnership with Bluesound, the High-Res Audio system comprises a one box music centre with wireless speakers.
The new wireless speakers connect to the DALI Sound Hub (pictured above), via a 24 bit/96 kHz connection. The hub offers a full complement of audio inputs, including digital optical and coaxial audio, analogue and Bluetooth.
The speakers feature drivers designed in-house by Dali, specifically a 6½-inch wood fibre woofer with an advanced SMC magnet motor system and a hybrid tweeter module consisting of a 29mm ultra-light-weight soft dome tweeter and a high-performance ribbon tweeter. The drivers are fed by a dual channel 300W Class D amplifier connected directly.
The system is interoperable with other Bluesound compatible devices, and can be driven by a BluOS app. The BluOS integrates streaming services like Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and Deezer, as well as offering support for FLAC, WAV, MQA, and other high-resolution formats and codecs.
The partnership with Bluesound owner Lenbrook International provides DALI with an already established High-Res Audio wireless platform.
“There is a growing list and wide variety of wireless multi-room audio solutions that loudspeaker companies can choose to develop on,” says Lars Worre, DALI’s Managing Director. “Our team reviewed the options and our performance values led us to the BluOS platform, which has earned an enviable reputation as a world leader in this space. For DALI this is a strong pathway for our future roadmap and it provides increased flexibility for discerning audio customers around the world.”
