Amazon has dramatically increased the potential of its Alexa platform with the release of Alexa Blueprints, a set of easy-to-use templates that create customised experiences for Alexa users within minutes.
With no coding required, it allows users to build a personalised set of skills. Available from today, Alexa Blueprints opens the door to custom skills and personalised responses. Users can create custom Q&As, a chatty sidekick skill, trivia games and so on.
Amazon Consumer Marketing lead May Yu, says the introduction will cement voice as the prime method of interaction with devices. “We expect voice use to triple over the next three years.”
Alexa blueprints launches with 22 templates. These include interactive story experiences, flash card learning and quizzes. However, for pro installers, Blueprints cannot currently be used to provide bespoke levels of control of Alexa smart home ecosystems. But we live in hope.
Uses could include a House Guest skill for baby and pet sitters “Alexa, what’s the Wi-Fi password?”), or complete User Guides for Airbnb stays, and short term rentals.
Amazon Alexa Blueprints was introduced into the US market, earlier this year.
While most Blueprint skills are expected to be used on closed networks, they can also be shared through email, text, WhatsApp, and social media platforms.
