The recent CEDIA charity cycle ride plus Silent Auction at the CEDIA Awards, has raised £7,050 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

CEDIA hosted a charity cycle ride in September, around Grafham Water Park in Huntingdon. Around 40 people attended the event, some enjoying a 9 mile fun ride, others taking on a 50 mile cycle sportive style ride. CEDIA also held a silent charity auction at the CEDIA Awards 2017.

The events were hosted to honour and remember five colleagues and industry peers who had sadly passed away in the last two years: Suzanne Collin, Carmen Greenway, Bob Hobson, Alan Roser, and Peter Lawn.

Through sales of the commemorative cycling shirt, and donations to aJustGiving page, CEDIA was able to raise a generous amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thirteen companies supported the charity cycling event including; AWE Europe, CEDIA, Core Publications, Habitech, Invision UK, Meridian Audio, Moss Technical Services, Pulse Marketing, Sphere Custom Design, The Cinema Designer, Visualization, Wildwood PR and Wyrestorm.

Over 450 guests attended the CEDIA Awards 2017. Macmillan is a source of support, not only for patients who live with cancer, but also carers, families and communities. They also allow those affected to have non-medical care, such as practical support at home, helping give a main carer precious time off, or a lift to hospital.

“We are so thankful for the support and generosity that the industry has shown, and are delighted to have raised over 7,000 for the charity” says Matt Nimmons, Managing Director of CEDIA EMEA. “The industry has turned out in force to support this initiative and remember our friends who we have sadly lost. It’s truly heart-warming to see the thoughtfulness and dedication of our industry. We are looking forward to building on this goodwill with similar charity events in the future.”
