Sony has updated its flagship 4K projector. The new VPL-VW1100ES, unveiled at CEDIA Expo, replaces the VPL-VW1000ES and follows the recent launch of the VPL-VW500ES at IFA.  The new native UHD SXRD-based model boasts 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness and a dynamic contrast of 1,000,000:1, via Advanced Iris3.

"Our 4K projector line-up continues to raise the bar on what the most discerning home entertainment enthusiast expects from Sony," says product manager Tak Nakane. "We have the right solution for every environment."

The VPL-VW1000ES offers HDMI 2.0 connectivity, able to accommodate high frame rate 4K. Integrators should note it also sports dual 12v triggers, a 2.1x motorised zoom, expanded lens shift, RS232 interface, control over IP and compatibility with leading home automation systems. The projector also uses Sony's Reality Creation picture engine to dramatically enhance all video content regardless of source, and includes an upscaling algorithm designed for 'Mastered in 4K' Blu-ray discs from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The VPL-VW1100ES will be available in Europe from November. It'll be priced at €19,900.
