Cary Audio is the latest specialist audio manufacturer to announce a partnership with MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) Music. Its DMS-500 network audio player will be the first Cary Audio product in the range to be certified. What makes this alliance particularly interesting is that the Cary Audio DMS-500 is the first MQA compatible product to use MQA 16x rendering. This means all MQA files are decoded within the DMS-500 to 705.6 kHz (44.1 X 16) or 768 kHz (48 x 16).
The company says the result is astonishing fidelity: “Every nuance and subtlety of the artist’s performance, every tiny drop of emotion is authentically reproduced. When you listen, you’ll be transported right into the very moment of creation.”
All DMS-500 units now shipping will have MQA pre-installed. Current owners of the DMS-500 with firmware versions 1.27.7 or later can update their unit free of charge using the DMS-500 internet update features to bring their DMS-500 up to date with the new MQA firmware. Any DMS-500 with firmware earlier then 1.27.7 can update their DMS-500 following the instructions on the DMS-500 product web page.
