Canton intros Smart Soundbar 9 with Chromecast built-in

Canton has announced the Smart Soundbar 9, the first in what it promises will be a new range of smart soundbars.

With Chromecast built-in, the new bar can be connected to other speakers via Wi-Fi to create a wireless multi-channel home cinema system, or whole-house multiroom set-up. It can also be partnered with the Canton Smart SUB 8 subwoofer and Smart Soundbox 3 speakers, for a full 5.1 system.

Offering dual band Wi-Fi and aptX Bluetooth, the Soundbar 9 features four bass drivers and two midrange drivers (all with 50mm aluminium cones) plus two 19mm fabric-dome tweeters. A pair of passive drivers further augment the bass response. Power output is rated at 300 watts.

The soundbar is compatible with Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround formats, while High-res audio is supported, up to 24-bit/96kHz.

Measuring 89 x 7 x 10cm, it's suitable for screen sizes of 40-inches or greater Connections comprise three HDMI inputs, and one output with ARC, plus optical and coaxial digital inputs, and analogue stereo. A dedicated subwoofer output is also provided. It ships with an IR-learning remote control.

The Soundbar 9 will retail for £699 when it begins shipping at the end of July. Distribution is by Exertis Unlimited.
