PMC has introduced the Bryston BCD-3, an audiophile grade CD player.  The BCD-3 includes a BDA-3 DAC and fully discrete Bryston Class A analogue output stage with independent analogue and digital power supplies.

The front panel, available in black aluminium, with a silver option to order, is a cosmetic match for Bryston’s Cubed Series amplifiers.

Beneath the lid are two AKM 4490 384/32Bit DACs, synchronised to the transport with a single master clock, a Bryston engineered solution to eliminate one of the primary causes of jitter.

Installers have a choice of balanced XLR or unbalanced phono stereo outputs as well as transformer coupled SPDIF/AES digital outputs. The BCD-3 is also network connectable, enabling software upgrades over Ethernet. For system integration, the player boasts a 12-volt trigger input.

“There are thousands of music lovers who still want to listen to their substantial CD collections,” says Peter Thomas, PMC founder. “For many it is the format of choice, and we are very pleased to see our friends at Bryston taking this market seriously and incorporating their excellent DAC technology into a new CD player. Its performance is simply superb and the audiophiles are going to be very pleased with the astonishing levels of clarity and detail it will bring to their music.”

The BCD-3 retails for £3,700, it's available from February..
