There’s money to be made away from traditional AV. That’s the message from distributor AWE, which has recently expanded its product offerings to include Silent Gliss (pictured above) and QMotion window shading solutions.

Integrators working on larger renovation projects or a new build properties, can now offer lifestyle solutions which complement everyday mutliroom audio and AV installations. Not only does this increase end-user satisfaction, it says, but it also allows installers to tapping in to areas of a homeowner’s budget previously reserved for furnishings.

To help CI professionals, move into this area AWE’s Technical Services division has launched a trade only quotation and installation service for QMotion window shading solutions. This new service sits alongside the existing ultra large screen installation and THX video calibration services.

For QMotion, prices start at just £99 for an onsite consultation. This can be performed either with the installer present, or on their behalf.  Following this a full quotation is provided, including the option of having the window shades fitted.  Fitting is quoted at a trade rate and is based upon the time required to complete the installation of the window shades themselves, as well as the location of the site. Any necessary wiring, finishing or control system integration remain the responsibility of the selling installer.

AWE suggests the QMotion range (pictured above) is well suited to both new build and retro fit applications.  They are wireless, motorised, and quick to install and integrate. A wide variety of fabrics are available together, with a long battery life of up to three years. They also have a manual override function.  Installers can self-specify and install, or engage AWE Technical Services.

Silent Gliss motorised curtain systems require more extensive specific knowledge for specification and installation.  Consequently AWE arranges for a Silent Gliss representative visit on-site, at no cost, to provide support for the process, from customer consultation through to specification and installation.

AWE says installers no longer need specialist knowledge to begin offering these value added services. However those wanting to take in-house education can take advantage of  AWE’s Smart Home Academy  one day training course for QMotion roller blind fitting and integration.
