AWE has secured the first demo of IMAX Enhanced outside of the US. Visitors to the AWE Expo this week will have a unique opportunity to experience IMAX Enhanced up close with demonstrations of both certified hardware and specially encoded IMAX Enhanced 4K HDR content.
An IMAX Enhanced Marantz AV8805 13 channel processor (pictured above), coupled to Marantz and Classe amplification and KEF reference/THX loudspeakers are being used for the demo. Encoded software includes sequences from The Dream is Alive, an IMAX documentary first released in 1985, now remastered in IMAX Enhanced format.
IMAX Enhanced software releases are mastered using a proprietary post production software process. Audio is delivered using the DTS:X platform.
A collaboration between DTS and IMAX, IMAX Enhanced is a licensing and certification program for high-end TVs, soundbars and AV receivers. Products will be required to meet a set of audio and video performance markers, as deemed by a committee of IMAX and DTS engineers, and content creators.
The AWE Expo runs this week (October 10-11) at the distributor's Epson HQ. Other attractions include URC Total Control 2.0 upgrades, new 4K and 8K screens from Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic and exclusive products from Marantz, Denon and Definitive Technology.
