AWE is now shipping the eagerly awaited Sony ZD9 4K HDR TV range. Previewed earlier this year to Inside CI, the new set employs an advanced Master Backlight Drive designed to minimise haloing on high contrast, alongside high peak brightness, for a superior HDR viewing experience.

Available in 65-, 75- and 100-inch screen sizes, the ZD9 sets also introduce a new 4K Processor X1 Extreme picture processor, incorporating three new technologies (object-based HDR remaster, dual database processing, and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR) promising improvements in clarity, colour accuracy and contrast of HD, 4K and 4K HDR content.

All ZD9 TVs feature X-tended Dynamic Range PRO to produce better contrast, with a brightness range said to be three times that of a conventional LED-backlight TV. The screens also feature a wide colour gamut.

Cosmetic design is impressive, with a back panel that cleverly conceals cable management. The 100-inch model is available with either a floor stand and table-top stand, while the 75- and 65- screens come with a table-top stand.

The ZD9 series runs the Android TV smart platform with voice search, alongside Sony’s own user interface Content bar, which includes enhanced content navigation.
