ATC has introduced a new high-end CD player and stereo amplifier combo. The CD2 CD player and SIA2-100 2-channel integrated amp/DAC make a feature of their rigid construction, with 12mm aluminium front panels finished in brushed and anodised ‘titanium’ silver. The models have been built in Stroud, mostly by hand, for studio and hi-fi applications.

The ATC CD2 Stereo CD Player offers line-level stereo phono outputs, alongside XLR sockets. There are also optical and coaxial digital audio outputs.
The player uses a TEAC 5020A-AT transport, and AKM DAC which operates in conjunction with an output filter stage comprising a digital filter and ATC’s own low-noise multiple feedback analogue filter.

The digital coaxial output uses an isolation transformer to combat possible hum loops when audio and digital signals are connected to the same equipment, says the company.

The matching SIA2-100 integrated amplifier/DAC is rated at 2 x 100W (into 8 ohms). Connections include two pairs of stereo line level inputs, plus a front panel mounted 3.5mm jack socket input, coaxial and optical digital audio inputs, and a USB digital audio input on a USB B socket. The USB input can handle PCM sample rates up to 32-bit from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, and also decode DSD sources at 2.822 MHz (DSD64) and 5.644 MHz ( DSD128).

There’s also a stereo line level output, and a front panel headphone output on a 6.35mm jack socket. Volume adjustment is via a Alps potentiometer.

The ATC CD2 sells for £1500.00, with the SIA2-100 amplifier priced at £2500.
