Monitor Audio has unveiled its latest Bronze speaker range. The seven strong line-up comprises two bookshelf speakers, Bronze One and Two; two floorstanders, Bronze Five and Six, and dedicated centre, surround and subwoofer: Bronze Centre, Bronze FX and Bronze W10.  The brand says that it’s “over-engineered the acoustic design to deliver lower distortion and a wider response.”

The speakers are optimised for high resolution audio. The enclosures feature a new generation of C-CAM drivers, and utilise invisible driver fixings and floating magnetic grilles. A newly developed 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter extends frequency response to 30kHz. There are also structural improvements said to improve accuracy and extension. A venting system allows air to flow outside the tweeter’s magnet assembly into a rear loading chamber, avoiding air compression for lower distortion and improved damping.

Proprietary bass and mid drivers utilise a ‘dished’ C-CAM cone, which uses the entire cone surface to radiate sound. This is said to be inherently more rigid and efficient, and less prone to break-up under high drive conditions.

All drivers are individually mounted on a through-bolt which fixes at the back of the cabinet and tensions the driver at the front. This braces the cabinet structure for lower box colouration and removes the need for conventional front fixings, giving the speakers a distinctive aesthetic. The range also borrow the HiVe II reflex loading approach seen on the step-up Gold models. This uses rifled port grooves to speed the air in and out of the cabinet, improving  bass and transient response.

The entry-level Bronze One (which retail at £230 a pair) sport a 5.5-inch C-CAM bass driver, for deep bass from close-to-wall positions in smaller rooms. They can be wall-mounted using the Monitor Audio Speaker Mount (MASM), as well as stand or shelf. The Bronze Two (£230 pair) has a larger 6.5-inch C-CAM bass driver and front-firing HiVe II port.

The Bronze Five (£560 pair) combine a 5.5-inch C-CAM bass driver and 5.5-inch C-CAM bass/mid driver in a 2.5 way configuration, with front and rear firing HiVe II ports to providing differential tuning. The Bronze Six (£700) features two 6.5-inch C-CAM bass drivers and a 6.5-inch C-CAM mid-range unit housed in a dedicated chamber.

Foe home cinema installations, the Bronze Centre (£160) offers twin 5.5-inch C-CAM bass/mid-range drivers and C-CAM tweeter, timbre matched with the rest of the range. Surround is delivered by the £280 Bronze FX, with single 5.5inch C-CAM bass/mid driver and dual C-CAM gold dome tweeters mounted on angled side-panels. The FX can be flush-mounted on side or rear walls. Dispersion characteristics can be manually switched for diffuse dipole or bipole operation. Underpinning the collection is the £500 W10 subwoofer, with downfiring 10-inch ABR. Buyers have a choice of four vinyl finishes:  Black Oak, Walnut, Rosemah and White Ash.
