Monitor Audio has launched a compact new AirPlay-enabled speaker, the Airstream S300, and upcoming rock band The Temperance Movement were amongst the first to hear it. The band, pictured above at the recent Monotor Audio-sponsored Classic Rock Awards, clearly appreciated its curvy dimensions and accommodating spec.

The Airstream S300 is a 140W stereo speaker conceived for wireless music delivery. In addition to playing from an iTunes library, it can also stream Spotify, LastFM and YouTube via apps on an iOS device. It also supports AirPlay direct, so users can couple their mobile devices directly without using a point-to-point router. Installation is said to be a snap, thanks to the proprietary Automatic Position correction (APC) room EQ system. Utilising an integrated microphone, this compensates for room acoustics and boundaries.

The Airstream S300 may be compact, but Monitor Audio hasn't skimped on equipment. The speaker features the brand's C-CAM alloy bass drivers and gold dome tweeters, and employs a 24-bit DAC under DSP control. It can also double as a TV soundbar, thanks to the provision of a 3.5mm audio jack.

The S300 is available in both white and black finishes, sports toughened glass end trims, and retails for £350. For more on Monitor Audio's extensive speaker ranges, visit our partner page here.
