In-wall tablet docking specialist iRoom has released a second generation of iPad docks, as well as its first for Android devices. The new range, available via Invision UK, includes the iPad fixDock, an in-wall mounting solution for Apple's second to fourth generation slates. The design is similar to the iRoom miniDock with a flush mounted glass bezel and an aluminium frame. Integrators should note that like the miniDock, the fixDock requires the iPad's original power supply for installation.
To launch its range of Android docking stations, iRoom has formed CMoDe (Charging Mobile Devices), a new company whose focus is on developing and manufacturing universal charging solutions for mobile products. The first CMoDe release is the fixDock for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, hailed as the first Android in-wall solution on the market. For locations where it may be necessary to secure the tablet to the fixDock in order to reduce the risk of theft, a security kit is available for both iRoom and CMoDe fixDocks. This consists of a cable, one end of which is screwed to the back box of the fixDock, and the other is attached to the tablet.
"The launch of the fixDock is great news," explains Invision UK's David Meyerowitz,. "We've been distributing iRoom docks for some time and they've proved incredibly popular. We're especially excited that there is now a version available for Android. Demand for Android products is on the increase, so it goes without saying that accessories like this will prove incredibly popular."
