HD Connectivity will unveil a handful of upgrades to its HDBaseT product  portfolio at the 2013 CES. Leading the way is a new 4x2 HDBaseT mini system. Retailing for £499, this two TV package comprises an HDMI matrix switcher and multiroom PoE receiver that allows four HD sources (set top box, Blu-ray, media player etc) plus a fast Internet connection, to be used across two locations. It's been designed with smaller residential and commercial installations in mind, says Chris Pinder, MD of HDanywhere. "It's an incredibly easy to install system," he says, "it's an affordable entry to multiroom HD entertainment, perfect for apartments and the vast majority of homes."

Moving to Power over Ethernet for the receiver greatly simplifies installation; the module simply connects back to the hub via single Cat5e/6 cable. Lengths up to 100m are supported for video, power and control. The receiver also delivers a fast network connection, making it ideal for Smart TV hook-up.

The company is also introducing a receiver wallplate, as an alternative to its thin box clients. The wallplate, which sells for £200, fits a standard doublegang UK back box. Also new for 2013 is IP connectivity, to ease integration with various control systems. IP drivers will be available for Control4, Crestron, AMX, RTI, DemoPad and others.

HD Connectivity's HDBaseT systems have always offered a backwards discrete IR command channel, but now a forwards IR channel has been added too, allowing commands from a central control system to be sent to the remote screen, or other IR devices, located in that vicinity.

The new expanded range will be unveiled on the HDBaseT Alliance booth, located in the CES LVCC South Hall 2. HD Connectivity will also exhibiting at ISE later in the month, where Inside CI understands even more additions to the range will be introduced. Products are available to order at the end of January.  HD Connectivity has also told Inside CI that it is now looking for distribution partners outside of the UK; interested parties should contact the brand directly.
