There's been an Epson upgrade at the Liverpool John Moores University. The School of Law, Liverpool Business School and the Liverpool Screen School, part of the new £37.6m Redmonds Building, has chosen the brand to lead its audio-visual refresh, deploying 40 EB-G5750WU projectors (pictured above) throughout the facility, alongside two high-brightness EB-Z8000WU models. With 6000 lumens on tap, the Z series can deliver clear, crisp images even in rooms with high-ambient light. The installation company behind the project was Lancashire-based PureAV, a specialist when it comes to the education sector.

Every projector hooks up to a stack of source components, including PCs, networked IP cameras and Blu-ray players. Given that the Liverpool Screen School offers undergraduate courses in creative writing, drama, film studies, journalism and media professional studies, wide ranging compatibilitywas essential. "With students learning from a wider range of digital media than ever before, including virtual lectures, online videos, mobile content and imagery, having projectors that can display this variety of materials was paramount," explained Mark Devitt, assistant director. In due course, he says the University plans to exploit the wireless connectivity offered by the hardware, allowing students and teachers to display content directly from their mobile devices.

Devitt adds that the University has also signed up for Epson's Self-Maintainer scheme, which ensures that it has access to a spare projector which can be instantly swapped with a defective unit, ensuring no teaching time is lost in cases of projector failure.
