Epson has unveiled six new 3LCD business projectors. The four models in the WUXGA resolution EB-1985WU range include the first with Miracast, while the EB-1430Wi series comprise two ultra-short-throw interactive meeting room models.
The EB-1985WU (pictured above), EB-1980WU, EB-1975W and EB-1970W boast up to 5,000 lumens brightness and sport two HDMI ports, integrated Wi-Fi and wired LAN, plus 16W integrated audio. Both the EB-1985WU and EB-1975W also support Miracast, allowing them to screen mirror from compatible mobile devices. At present there is no news of Miracast on its game and home theatre projection fleet, but the feature would seem a natural addition when new models are rolled out at IFA 2014.
The short throw WXGA resolution EB-1430Wi (pictured below) and EB-1420Wi models have an innovative whiteboard sharing mode which allows boardroom participants to view and annotate whiteboard content from smart devices, without the need to use dediacted apps. There's also support for multi-location image annotation during meetings between different offices. Brightness is rated at 3,300 lumens. The projectors have two HDMI inputs, built-in 16W audio and come with two interactive pens.
The EB-1430Wi also adds finger-touch interactivity, which works by casting a laser curtain over the projected image able to detect interaction from up to 6 points of finger-touch, enabling input from multiple users. "Since Epson's introduction of finger-touch technology earlier this year, teachers and students have been able to collaborate using either their fingers or the interactive pens to underline or write onto any image, slide, graph and even video," says brand business manager Graeme Davidson. "Finger-touch is great for collaboration and brain-storming sessions, so we brought it to boardrooms and meeting rooms in the form of an ultra-short throw projector." All six models are available from August.
