CI and AV distributor Habitech has signed up leading custom cable supplier Cleerline Technology, best known for its fuss-free NSF (Non-Strip Fibre) fibre optic termination and coax cable making systems. Habitech MD Jonathan Pengilley promises Cleerline's "innovative cable construction and management will save installers valuable time on-site and reduce costs."

Cleerline's NSF cable certainly simplifies the sometimes tricky process of fibre optic termination. A unique construction with a proprietary polymer coating allows installers to execute mechanical splice-style connections quickly and without damage, because the glass core isn't exposed. Cleerline NSF also replaces the standard buffer coating with a 'soft peel' jacket, which can be removed with fingernails, saving time and the cost of a special tool. Its makers say the entire termination process can be completed in just a minute.

Another bespoke time-saver is Cleerline's Planet Waves coax cable making kit, which requires no stripping, crimping or soldering. A simple cut -twist -screw process enables the easy assembly of custom-length interconnects in the field. Once the cable is cut, there's no need to strip the jacket or flare out the shield strands. Instead, the connector twists on and is secured with a screw, which pierces the cable's outer jacket and connects to the shield. BNC, F-pin, RCA phono, and 90° angled connectors are available in three quality standards: BC, ST and HD. Planet Waves cable also ships in three and five wire bundles, together with an oxygen-free copper 'HD Wire' upgrade in black, red, blue, white, green, yellow and orange for easy identification. The range includes two cutters: a mini cutter in a compact, folded design and a CCT-CI Cable Cutter and Tester, complete with an integrated testing tool to check for ground and tip continuity on RCA phono, quarter inch, BNC and F cables.
