Ultra slim HDBaseT receivers, 4K resolution projectors and bespoke biometric control interfaces for the likes of AMX and Crestron were just some of the many attractions at this year's Home Technology Showcase organised by CI and AV distributor Invision UK. More than 100 dealers attended the first day of the London show, now in its second year. "The support we've had from manufacturers has been fantastic," Invision UK managing director Steve Beahan told Inside CI. "They are increasingly realising the value of meeting our dealers face-to-face. This is a unique opportunity for everyone."

All key Invision UK brands were in attendance, including Wyrestorm, LG, Niles, JVC, Aquavision, RTI, iRoom, Autonomic, Elan and Luxul, along with newcomers such as security specialist Lillin, app-developer Janus Technology and ICE Cables.

JVC events and brand manager Ian Perkins described the company's attendance as "important - both in terms of showing the brand and supporting the likes of Invision. We don't have an opportunity to do this kind of event. Euronics do one show a year, at the NEC for all their guys." It dovetails well with other promotional activities, he adds. JVC is also a participant in Teen Tech, a science and technology event aimed at 9-12 year olds. "It's important to be proactive," he says.

ICE Cable CEO Brian Rizzo (pictured above)  told Inside CI: "We're really keen to support the bigger distributors who are doing a good job getting the word out. We do three trade shows a year: CEDIA US, Inforcomm and ISE. Invision UK are awesome, they do a great job. We want to support these guys."

AudioControl CEO Alex Camara was equally enthusiastic: "I spend around 40 per cent of my time on the road. I like to spend time with our customers," he says. "But if I go on the road, I'm lucky to see four or five in a day, but here I can meet forty. It's a good chance to get a vibe and see what's happening in the industry. It gives me the chance of meeting a lot of customers in a concentrated period of time."

Camera, pictured above,  adds: "This kind of distributor show started off in England, but it's growing fast elsewhere. This year in the States there's been double the number of distributor shows. Now what we're seeing in the States is multiple distributors getting together. Only recently we had six distributors in California putting together a Tech Summit. As an event, it drew in a lot of people."

The Invision Home Technology Showcase runs May 13-14, at the RAF Museum London.
