British hi-fi specialist Arcam is powering the Dolby Immersive Theatre at ISE 2016, with its new AVR850 Dolby Atmos receiver. “This room is loaded with a smorgasbord of electronic and speaker finery,” Arcam’s Andy Moore told Inside CI. Attendees will hear an Arcam AV front end featuring the AVR850 receiver, working with six FMJ P49 amplifiers, with the front three in mono block 1000w mode. The receiver is the first AV component from Arcam to feature Dirac Live room correction and equalisation.

For the Dolby demo, Arcam amplification is connected to KEF Reference loudspeakers, specifically L/R REF 5 fronts, a REF 4c centre and REF 1’s on surround channels. There are two REF subs in play, and KEF CI 200RR architectural speakers on height duties, giving an Atmos speaker configuration of 7.2.4. Images are delivered by an Epson EH-LS10000 laser projector.

Enthuses Moore: “This system was put together down at Maidstone for a Home Cinema choice review session and all I can say is ‘Wow!’ This rig sounds amazing! It has impact in spades and finesse.”

For those visiting ISE, there’s no requirement to book attendance at the hourly demos, simply turn up at the booth and grab a seat …
