4K stars in new Sony TV and cinema ad campaign...
Sony has launched a high-profile TV and cinema advertising campaign to promote its 4K Ultra HD X9 TV range. The ad, which features millions of colourful petals exploding from a volcano, was filmed in Costa Rica using the company's professional F55 and F65 cameras, used on recent blockbuster movies Oblivion and After Earth.

The theatrical slot, which accompanies Thor The Dark World and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, will itself be seen in 4K resolution. Gildas Pelliet, Head of Marketing for Sony Europe, declared: "Sony is famous for creating iconic commercials. We wanted to create a visually impressive and artistic advert that best demonstrates what you experience with a Sony 4K TV - 4 times the detail of current Full HD TVs. The ad has a cinema-like experience with pin sharp images and dramatic scenery." Earlier this year, Sony used Wimbledon for a micro ad campaign to promote 4K. Sony isn't likely to to be the only beneficiary of this latest campaign. Expect awareness for 4K in general to soar.
